Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium

It is a five story building which covers 66,124 meters and has the capacity to hold 7, 508 spectators out of which 1,741 are temporary seats. Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium will host Badminton and rhythmic gymnastics.  

The stadium which is located in southeastern Beijing has the world’s largest pre-stressed suspension dome (93 meters diameter, weighing 1,200 tons.)

The venue which now with in perfect coordination with Green Olympics underwent changes so that it could become a more environment friendly space. Now the gymnasium is equipped with water harvesting system along side it also uses ground source to heat building and the water-source heat pump when the temperatures will are on higher side.

Badminton and rhythmic gymnastic follow strict requirements for wind speed and temperature – badminton needs a constant room temperature of 26 degree Celsius and the wind speed under 0.2 m/s.   Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium matches or in fact surpasses the requirements.

After the completion of Beijing Olympics the facility will be used for training Chinese badminton teams affiliated with International Badminton Federation and other such bodies.
