Canada won first gold in Women’s Wrestling

After defeating Japanese Icho Chiharu, Carol Huynh becomes the first Canadian woman to win gold in the Women’s Freestyle Wrestling 48 kilogram weight class in the Beijing Olympics.

Huynh started off well and claimed the first period with 4-0. Icho came strongly in the second period but finally lost by 2-1.

By winning this gold, Huynh inscribed her name in the history, as the first woman of Canada to achieve this feat.
