Mellouli won gold in Men’s 1500m Freestyle
While everybody was expecting to watch the big Hackett’s party who were competing for his third consecutive Olympic gold, Tunisian Oussama Mellouli emerged as the new star to spoil the party. He defeated the Australian Hackett to win the gold in the Men’s 1500m Freestyle swimming competition at the National Aquatics Center, Beijing.

Mellouli took 14:40.84, which is a new African record in 1500m Freestyle. The Tunisian sensation surprised everyone and went on to beat two fastest qualifiers, Canadian Ryan Cochrane and Hackett.
